Goddess Brahmacharini
The second form of Nav Durga is the Goddess Brahmacharini, epitomising the woman who practiced the toughest penance and terrible austerity. She represents love, loyalty, wisdom, and knowledge. The word “Brahm" is connected to “Tapa” and Her name means -the one who performs penance. The influence of Devrishi Narada on Her also was instrumental for her single minded devotion, hard penance to obtain Lord Shiva.

In Her honour, we bring to you a beautiful hymn/stuti in the mellifluous voice of noted playback singer Anuradha Paudwal. Along with a plethora of music/film related awards, she was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2017 by the Government of India. Few can forget the purity and sweetness of the Shiv-Vandana by Uma ( Jaya Bhaduri) in the cult classic movie ‘Abhiman’ ( 1973) that tied Subir ( Amitabh Bachchan) to her irrevocably! The voice was none other than Anuradha Paudwal’s debut!
Life seems to have made a full circle as the singer returned to devotional music after a hugely successful career in playback singing.
Yes, her voice is redolent of incense and temple bells ... we sit enthralled in the sacred space.
