Saint Francis of Assisi said "It is in giving that we receive. "

Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. Give cheerfully & not just with money, give a helping hand, a smile, love, and hope. Go out and make some good things happen to fill the world with hope.

As Anne Frank said, "no one has become poorer by giving".

It’s easy to get so preoccupied with fixing your own life that you forget about helping others. And while it’s important to put yourself first sometimes, it’s even more important to help others whenever you can.

Being generous isn’t even always about altruism – generous and compassionate deeds will have real tangible benefits in your own life as is evident from this story. The difference you can make in the lives of others when you step forward, reach out and help in your small way activates the areas of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust.

Altruistic behaviour releases endorphins in the brain and boosts happiness for us as well as the people we help.

Philip Zimbardo is a well-known psychologist, who was leading the 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment – so he knows how bad people can be. But in his famous talk "The two faces of mankind-evil vs angel" he finally concludes that everyone has an inner hero and being good is in our nature as well.

In 2017, Singer Rihanna gave an inspiring speech about the power of helping others in any way that you can, without expecting anything in return. She said, "It starts with your neighbor. The person right next to you, the person sitting next to you in class, the kid down the block in your neighborhood. You just do whatever you can to help in any way that you can. Today, I want to challenge each of you to make a commitment to help one person. One organization, one situation that touches your heart. My grandmother always used to say, ‘If you got a dollar, there’s plenty to share'.

An ancient Chinese saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”The greatest philosophers from ancient times have all said the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others.

One of the Booker shortlisted books--"Small Things Like These" by Claire Keegan has this as its basis! A helping hand, a quiet heroism, empathy & giving. I hope it wins the prize! Great article ❤Here's to being a lil less selfish every day :)

Absolutely! Great inspiration from this write up !!You may be surviving by pay cheque to pay cheque from hand to mouth or in abundances with lined up Ferrari, Lamborghinis,Maybachs, luxurious yacht, but by starting giving or helping someone you earn no money but gratitudes unknowingly for yourself ! Take your dreams & give them wings in others to see the magic in them, the shining stars in their eyes ….they will catch the flight ,…( listen to the song “set the world on fire”by Brit Nicole) . Look yourself in the mirror & start with the “man in the mirror “& make a change ,feel real good, make a difference & make it right, don’t be a victim of …selfish kind of love ! ( listen to the iconic thrilling song “Man in the Mirror “ by Michael Jackson which I listen very often since my medical days ). Be a changes & MAKE a CHANGE . Dr Tadit ✨⚡️
