Jamun or Java plum is a fruit that is loaded with vitamin C and minerals like iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and folic acid. Fruit is diuretic, anti-scorbutic, and carminative in properties and is a rich source of polyphenolic compounds.

In Ayurveda, the jamun berry is used for treating various conditions related to heart, arthritis, asthma, stomach pain, bowel spasms, flatulence and dysentery.
