Today,3rd march is world wildlife day....to protect and raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that we get from flora and fauna.Earth is home to innumerable species, and each one of them plays an important role in balancing the ecosystem.
The animals and plants that live in the wild have an intrinsic value and contribute to the ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic aspects of human well-being and to sustainable development.
The theme of World Wildlife Day 2022 is “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration” & the reason behind is to shed light on saving some of the most critically endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
According to the official UN website, currently over 8,400 species of wild fauna and flora are listed in the critically endangered category where as over 30,000 more are close to being endangered or vulnerable. The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, which was launched in 2021, calls for the protection and revival of all ecosystems around the world. The organisation has set 2030 as the deadline for Sustainable Development Goals.
Bonnie Wright - Actress, conservation activist & influencer said:"To create resiliency within ecosystems there must be biodiversity, that is why it's so important to recover key species that play pivotal rolls within any given ecosystem".
Let us be more thoughtful & work towards a more caring and sustainable relationship with mother nature.
